Your guide to picking the right STD test in Dubai
If you are sexually active it is extremely important to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). While you should be getting tested before starting a sexual relationship with a new partner, it’s also a good idea to get tested regularly just to make sure you’re safe as some STDs can be symptom less in the short term but cause severe complications further down the line. As the best STD clinic in Dubai, we have put together this handy guide to show you how to pick the right STD test for you.
Types of tests available
At The All England Practice, we offer 3 levels of STD testing. There is the standard test that covers:
- Chlamydia
- Mycoplasma
- Gonorrhoea
- Trichomonas
- Ureaplasma
The next test up is what we refer to as our extended test and that includes:
- Herpes
- Chlamydia
- Mycoplasma
- Gonorrhoea
- Trichomonas
- Ureaplasma
And our comprehensive test looks for::
- Syphilis
- HIV, HBV and HCV
- Herpes
- Chlamydia
- Mycoplasma
- Gonorrhoea

- Ureaplasma
When should I get a standard test?
A standard panel test should be taken once a year for anyone who is sexually active, whether that relationship is monogamous or not. Those with multiple sexual partners should test more frequently, such as every 3-6 months.
When should I get an extended STD test?
An extended test can be taken instead of a standard test if you have been exposed to someone with the herpes virus or for additional peace of mind.
When should I get a comprehensive test?
A comprehensive STD test with us includes early detection screening for syphilis and HIV which can be detected as little as two weeks after exposure, even though you may be symptom-free.
If you are a man who has sex with men, it is recommended to get tested at least once a year. A person should consider getting tested every 3 months if they have more than one sexual partner.
A comprehensive STD test is also recommended at least once a year for anyone who engages in unsafe sex, has multiple partners, or shares drug equipment.
If you have any concerns about STDs or are due for a test then make sure to get in contact with the best STD clinic in Dubai, The All England Practice. Take control of your health; stay safe.
