Orthodontics Treatment (Braces)
Get Aligned Teeth And A Better SmileOrthodontics is the dental speciality which focuses on correcting misalignment of the teeth and jaws. Orthodontists aim to prevent, diagnose and treat facial and dental irregularities with a combination of procedures and appliances, such as space maintainers, fixed braces and retainers.
- Orthodontics is a permanent solution to misaligned teeth
- Can prevent problems arising from an uneven bite (where one or more teeth are under greater pressure from the opposing teeth)
- Give you a straighter smile and more even teeth
At The Practice Poly Clinic, we offer plenty of orthodontic options and provide guidance to the most suitable and effective treatment for you.
Metal braces
The most common type of braces and sometimes referred to as traditional braces or “train tracks”, these are fixed to the teeth and adjusted every few weeks or months in order to make the teeth move gradually. Although visible, newer metal braces are far less cumbersome than older style braces and can be used to move teeth relatively quickly.
Ceramic braces
If you’d prefer your braces to be less noticeable, ceramic might be the right option for you. Ceramic braces use wires and brackets that match the natural colour of your teeth and so they are far less visible than traditional metal braces.
Lingual braces
Rather than fitting the brackets and wires to the front surface of your teeth, lingual braces are affixed to the back of the tooth and aren’t visible at all when you’re wearing them. Like all fixed braces, they will need to be adjusted at regular intervals. Lingual braces can take a bit of getting used to as your tongue isn’t used to feeling anything on the back of your teeth!
Removable braces
Removable braces tend to take two forms: removable, clear aligners such as Invisalign, which can be used to correct various dental problems; and removable retainers which are used after other orthodontic treatment to maintain the new, straighter smile. In some cases, retainers may be used in isolation to remedy relatively minor orthodontic imperfections.
