Invisalign vs Metal Braces: Which is better for you?

We all want that perfect, pearly smile and it always starts with beautifully straight teeth. Even if your teeth aren’t the way you want them to be, there are always ways to fix it. For decades, people have been turning to traditional metal braces to straighten out teeth while dealing with the constant discomfort and trouble eating, for several months.
With Invisalign there is now a perfectly discreet, comfortable alternative. Invisalign is becoming an increasingly popular choice for consumers who want to straighten their teeth but don’t want a mouth full of metal that comes with traditional braces. But which is right for you? Read on to find out more.
What is Invisalign and how does it work?
Invisalign are brace-like devices designed to be invisible against the teeth. The trays are made of clear plastic that slot in and out of the mouth whenever they’re required to be worn. The tray is custom created using x-rays, which scan the teeth and design the mould to fit and shape them correctly. Unlike braces, they can be removed when you need them to be and do not require an orthodontist or medical professional to work with them outside of regular appointments.
Which is better for me?
It really depends on your needs. Because they are completely transparent, Invisalign makes a great choice for someone concerned about the look of braces and would prefer to have a system that is as discreet as possible. Moreover, with Invisalign, you won’t have to adjust your diet to adapt to the braces because they’re easily removable. You also won’t have to worry about getting things stuck between your teeth or the risk of breaking them during cleaning.
However, there are still benefits to the traditional set of braces. A standard set of braces are especially good for those whose full set of adult teeth have not quite come in, making them a popular choice for teenagers. They are also relatively inexpensive compared to Invisalign as you will only require one set for the entirety of your treatment.
Whatever your needs, you deserve a brilliant smile – and it all starts with beautiful, straight teeth.
